El Tercer Salón Internacional del Comic (Expo Cómic 2011) contó con expositores de Bélgica, España, Argentina, Italia,Japón, Estados Unidos, México y Chile. Así dibujantes de los grandes conglomerados de la historieta, tales como Marvel y Disney, estuvieron exhibiendo sus obras y compartiendo con el público en el Centro Cultural de San Joaquín, Santiago, Chile.

The Third International Comic Media, (Comic Expo 2011) had exhibitors from Belgium, Spain,Argentina, Italy, Japan, United States, Mexico and Chile. VI Salón de la Historieta y la Ilustración

Las más enigmáticas caricaturas, divertidos personajes y prodigiosos retratos, están dando vida al Salón de la Historieta y la Ilustración, en la Biblioteca de Santiago. Por sexto año consecutivo, la actividad fue organizada por la Escuela de Diseño Gráfico de la Universidad Los Leones, con el fin de apoyar al dibujo profesional de Chile.

En esta oportunidad, la muestra está dedicada al dibujante chileno Themo Lobos por su trayectoria de 65 años. Así en el Salón de Grandes Maestros, están expuestas diferentes obras para homenajearlo, por ejemplo aquí están los trabajos de Luis Alberto Percáres, Eduardo De la Barra, Jorcar y Tec.

Además, la exhibición cuenta con otras áreas de acuerdo a las edades del público. La sección infantil tiene inocentes ilustraciones para los más pequeños, mientras que la parte juvenil destaca el talento de jóvenes artistas y el uso de la tecnología digital. Y también existe una zona para los mayores de 18 años, donde los adultos pueden disfrutar de picarescas y humorísticas obras.

Sixth National Salon of Comic and Illustration

The most enigmatic cartoons, funny characters and prodigious portraits are giving life to the Comic and Illustration Salon, at the Library of Santiago. For the sixth consecutive year, the event was organized by the School of Graphic Design of Los Leones University, in order to support the professional drawing of Chile.

On this occasion, the exhibition is devoted to the Chilean artist Themo Lobos for his career of 65 years. So in the Hall of the Great Masters, there are exposed various works to honour him, for example here we can find the works of Luis Alberto Percáres, Eduardo De la Barra, Jorcar and Tec.

In addition, the exhibit has other areas according to the ages of the public. The children's section has innocent illustrations for little kids, while the youth section stand out the young artists’ talent and the use of digital technologies. And exist also a zone for people over 18 years, where adults can enjoy of picaresque and humoristic works.

Percáres y el VI Salón Nacional de la Historieta e Ilustración

La VI versión del Salón del Cómic, la Caricatura y la Ilustración rindió un homenaje al dibujante chileno Themo Lobos. La idea fue otorgarle un reconocimiento por sus 65 años de trayectoria y varios de sus colegas participaron en el tributo.

Para esta ocasión, Luis Percáres realizó un retrato de Themo Lobos junto a todos sus personajes más conocidos. La obra estuvo expuesta en el Salón de Grandes Maestros y recibió excelentes críticas de arte.

La muestra fue realizada en la Biblioteca de Santiago, en Chile, mientras que la Escuela de Diseño Gráfico de la Universidad Los Leones organizó el evento. En su apertura contó con la presencia de connotados artistas chilenos, así como personalidades de las artes y la educación.

The sixth version of the Comic, Caricature and Illustration Salon paid tribute to the Chilean cartoonist Themo Lobos. The idea was to give him an award for his 65 years of career and several of his colleagues participated in the homage.
For this occasion, Luis Percáres did a portrait of Themo Lobos together with all his most famous fictional characters. The work was exhibited at the Salon of Grand Masters and received excellent reviews of art.
The exhibition was held at the Library of Santiago in Chile and the School of Graphic Design of Los Leones University hosted the event. At its opening was attended by prominent Chilean cartoonists and personalities from the arts and education.

Puede manejar el pincel a su antojo y con la máxima superioridad. Sus obras denotan la calidad y ese perfeccionismo que no siempre es posible visualizar. Esa cualidad lo hace ser especial, único. Así es Luis Alberto Percáres. Un dibujante, publicista, poeta y artista visual. Un chileno que ha obtenido el éxito en su tierra natal como también en el extranjero.

Es hábil para combinar la magia y el realismo. Unas cuantas pinceladas le permiten transmitir el mensaje que desea, sin la necesidad de acudir a las palabras. No sólo es capaz de comunicar una crítica social a los adultos, sino que también asombra a los más pequeños con ese encanto sublime.

El artista desarrolla todos los géneros del dibujo: la caricatura y el retrato, el humor, la ilustración y el cómic. En más de alguna ocasión, el público ha quedado estupefacto al observar las diferencias en sus obras y al lograr comprender los significados.

Por ejemplo, siempre realiza trabajos que hablan de la contingencia noticiosa del momento, muchas veces con la seriedad necesaria o la picardía si es que lo amerita. Entonces fácilmente sorprende con sus caricaturas y retratos de actores de cine, presidentes de países, deportistas destacados, cantantes o gente de la televisión.

En cambio, sus ilustraciones infantiles incentivan la imaginación y plasman la inocencia que existe en la infancia. Los rostros de sus niños tienen miradas transparentes y los personajes que los acompañan reflejan su interés por la mitología.

Es merecedor contar que Luis Alberto Percáres es uno delos pocos profesionales que ha desarrollado el cómic romántico. Singulares páginas que narran una historia, laberintos sentimentales o imprevistos reencuentros, donde las tristezas y las alegrías están permitidas.

Pero también el dibujo humorístico juega un rol importante en la carrera del artista. Sus chistes picarescos expresan la hilaridad para soltar carcajadas, mientras que su personaje infantil Tommy, hace el bosquejo de una sonrisa gracias a su humor blanco.

Luis Alberto Percáres perfecciona su arte a través de las emociones, las que son poéticas, sobrecogedoras o impactantes. Utiliza estilos diversos y mezcla la mayor tonalidad posible: claros, oscuros, pasteles o resaltantes. Sin duda, sus trabajos confirman su talento y sus 47 años de trayectoria… Toda una vida entre los pinceles, las acuarelas, los lápices y la tinta china.

He can handle the brush as he pleases and with the greatest superiority. His works denote quality and a perfectionism that is not always possible to visualize. That quality makes him special and unique. This is Luis Alberto Percáres. A cartoonist, publicist, poet and visual artist. A Chilean who has reached success in his homeland as also abroad.

He is able to combine magic and realism. A few strokes allow him to convey the message he wants, without the need to resort to the words. Not only he is capable to communicate a social critique to adults, but he also amazes kids with that sublime charm.

The artist develops all genres of drawing: caricature and portrait, cartoon, illustration and comic. In more than one occasion, the audience has been astonished to watch the differences in their works and to get to understand their meanings.

For example, he always performs works that talk about the contingency news of the day, many times with the necessary seriousness or the sharpness if it is deserved. Then easily he impresses with his caricatures and portraits of movie stars, presidents of countries, outstanding athletes, singers and TV people.

Instead, his illustrations for children encourage the imagination and reflect the innocence that exists in childhood. The faces of his kids have a transparent look and his fictional characters reflect his interest in mythology.

It is worthy to mention that Luis Alberto Percáres is one of the few professionals who have developed the romance comic. Remarkable pages that narrate a story, sentimental labyrinths or unexpected encounters, where the sorrows and joys are allowed.

But humorous drawings also play an important role in the artist's career. His picaresque jokes express the hilarity to roar with laughter, while his fictional childlike character Tommy makes the outline of a smile thanks to his white humour.

Luis Alberto Percáres perfects his art through the emotions, which are poetic, startling or stunning. He uses diverse styles and mixes the most shades as possible: light, dark, pastel or highlights. Certainly, his works confirm his talent and his 47 year of career... A lifetime between brushes, watercolours, pencils and Indian ink.

Luis Percáres ha pertenecido a la Asociación de Dibujantes de Chile, ASODICH, desde sus inicios y ha mantenido una fiel participación. Por esta razón, ASODICH, nombró al dibujante "Secretario Suplente" de la organización en abril del 2010, en lugar de Miguel Ortiz Sandoval. Posteriormente, Luis Percáres pasó a ser parte de la directiva como "Secretario General", un puesto en el que se ha mantenido hasta la fecha.

Grandes Maestros.

Majestuosas ilustraciones, sorprendentes caricaturas y despampanantes tiras de historietas, cubrieron las murallas de la Biblioteca de Santiago durante el mes de junio, gracias a la maestría de los más destacados dibujantes profesionales de México y Chile.

La muestra reunió obras de artistas chilenos que han sido reconocidos por su trayectoria, tales como Lugoze, Manuel De la Cruz, Miguel Ortiz, Jorcar, Judisan y Luis Alberto Percáres. Este último artista es el autor de la ilustración expuesta en este artículo y que pocos son capaces de realizar, porque la técnica aplicada, bolígrafo sobre papel, es difícil.

Como el país azteca fue invitado al evento, importantes dibujantes enviaron sus trabajos para dar a conocer su crítica social y las temáticas humorísticas que utilizan. Por ejemplo: Oscar Bazaldua, Gabriel Vargas, José Hernández, José Luis Durán y Sixto Valencia.

El certamen fue organizado, por quinto año consecutivo, por la Escuela de Diseño Gráfico de la Universidad Los Leones, en conjunto con la Biblioteca de Santiago y con la colaboración de la Embajada de México en Chile. Este Salón Internacional de la Historieta, Caricatura e Ilustración es una de las primeras iniciativas que hubo en Sudamérica, luego del famoso encuentro anual de Barcelona.

También hubo un espacio para los jóvenes dibujantes chilenos, tales como Tec, Salvador Arenas o Diego Maya. Ellos expusieron en salones dirigidos a públicos específicos, como la Sala Infantil, Juvenil y Adultos. Eso sin contar, la serie de conferencias y talleres en los que participaron para enseñar a los espectadores interesados.

Majestic illustrations, cartoons and stunning amazing comic strips, covered the walls of the Library of Santiago during June, thanks to the expertise of leading professional artists from Mexico and Chile.
The exhibition included works by Chilean artists who have been recognized for his career, such as Lugoze, Manuel De la Cruz, Miguel Ortiz, Jorcar, Judisan and Luis Alberto Percáres. This last artist is the author of the illustration showed in this article which not many artists are able to develop, because the technique used, pen on paper, is a difficult one.
As Mexico was invited to the event, important artists sent their works to make known their social criticism and humorous themes that they use. For example: Oscar Bazaldua, Gabriel Vargas, José Hernández, José Luis Durán and Sixto Valencia.
The event was organized for the fifth consecutive year by the School of Graphic Design of Los Leones University, in cooperation with the Library of Santiago and the collaboration of the Embassy of Mexico in Chile. This International Exhibition of Cartoon, Caricature and Illustration is one of the first initiatives in South America after the famous annual meeting in Barcelona, Spain.

There was also a space for Chilean young cartoonists, such as Tec, Salvador Arenas or Diego Maya. They exhibited in salons aimed at specific audiences, as the children, youth and adults areas. Not to mention the series of conferences and workshops where they participated to teach to interested viewers.

Con bombos y platillos inauguraron el Salón Internacional del Noveno Arte en la Biblioteca de Santiago, en Chile. Así, por quinto año consecutivo, los más destacados dibujantes chilenos tales como Manuel De laCruz, Lugoze, Luis Alberto Percáres, Judisan, Jorcar y Miguel Ortiz, entre otros, estuvieron reunidos en una muestra que estuvo abierta todo junio del 2010.

En esa ocasión, el país invitado al certamen fue México y varios de sus artistas enviaron sus trabajos para que el público chileno conociera más sobre su crítica social. Y, como es costumbre, la Escuela de Diseño Gráfico de la Universidad Los Leones organizó esta exposición para llevar el arte de los artistas mexicanos a Chile.

With great fanfare opened the International Exhibition of Ninth Art at the Library of Santiago, Chile. For the fifth consecutive year, the most outstanding Chilean cartoonists such as Manuel De la Cruz, Lugoze, Luis Alberto Percáres, Judisan, Jorcar and Miguel Ortiz, among others, presented their works in an exhibition that was opened in June, 2010.

On that occasion, the guest country was Mexico and several of their artists sent their works in order that the Chilean audience knew more about their social criticism. And, as usual, the School of Graphic Design of Los Leones University organized this exhibition to bring the art of Mexican artists to Chile.

Luis Alberto Percáres ha ilustrado una variedad de posters infantiles a lo largo de su carrera. Algunos los desarrolla bajo el género del dibujo humorístico, como las dos obras expuestas, mientras que otros destacan por el realismo de sus pinceladas.

En ocasiones, los clientes del artista le han contado sus vivencias o le han solicitado el retrato de un niño en especial. Entonces el dibujante recoge esas experiencias de los protagonistas y las incorpora en la idea original del trabajo.

Así puede retratar a un niño entre sus personajes preferidos de cuentos o, puede narrar un episodio importante de su vida. Por ejemplo, estos posters fueron ilustrados para una niña de cuatro años a petición de sus padres. En las obras aparecen su primer cascabel, su muñeca más querida y un gnomo, porque le encantaba leer aventuras mitológicas.

Luis Alberto Percáres has illustrated a variety of posters for children throughout his career. Some of them developed under the genre of humoristic drawing, as the two works shown, while that others highlighted for the realism of his brushstrokes.

Sometimes the artist's clients have told him their experiences, or they have requested a portrait of a specific child. Then the cartoonist takes those protagonists’ experiences and incorporates them into the original idea of the work.

So he can portray a child between his favourite characters of tales, or he can narrate an important episode of child’s life. For example, these posters were illustrated for a four years old girl, requested by her parents. In the pictures we find her first bell, her most precious doll and a gnome, because she loved to read mythological adventures.

Una de las obras expuestas.

No es muy fácil encontrar dibujantes chilenos que han ejercido su profesión fielmente durante toda su vida. Es el caso de Luis Alberto Percáres, un artista con más de 46 años de trayectoria y que está exponiendo sus obras más recientes en la Biblioteca Viva del Mall Plaza Oeste.

La muestra reúne trabajos originales bajo las técnicas de la acuarela, tinta china y lápiz. El público puede observar y comprender más sobre los géneros del dibujo, tal como la caricatura, la ilustración y el cómic. Es por eso que el expositor explica los conceptos y sus diferencias.

Sin duda que son "46 Años de Sueños... Una Trayectoria", porque el dibujante demuestra que sabe manejar el pincel a su antojo y con la máxima perfección. Esto hace que estemos frente a una muestra de calidad y que no siempre es posible visualizar en Chile.

Luis Alberto Percáres es dibujante, publicista, poeta y artista visual. Sus trabajos han recorrido Chile y el extranjero, por medio de los medios de comunicación, la publicidad y las exposiciones. También ha sido reconocido y galardonado por las nuevas generaciones de artistas, como por diferentes instituciones públicas y privadas.

Si recorremos lentamente las paredes de la galería, podemos encontrar ilustraciones infantiles donde la inocencia de los personajes de cuentos ilusiona, tanto a los adultos como a los menores. También el dibujo humorístico está presente con Tommy, uno de los personajes del artista y que hace sonreír por medio de sus chistes blancos.

Además Luis Alberto Percáres es uno de los pocos dibujantes que ha desarrollado la historieta romántica. Es por eso que presenta páginas de sus últimas creaciones, con el propósito de enseñar más sobre este género.

Y para aquellos que siguen diariamente la contingencia noticiosa, podrán disfrutar de las caricaturas y los retratos de personajes famosos. Así nos sorprendemos con los actores de cine, presidentes de países, deportistas destacados, cantantes y gente de la televisión.

La exposición, "46 Años de Sueños... Una Trayectoria", estará disponible hasta el 31 de Agosto en la Biblioteca Viva Oeste, sector Las Terrazas, Local 110. Y lo más importante es que tiene entrada liberada, por lo tanto no tiene excusa para no acudir.

It’s not too easy to find Chilean cartoonists who have faithfully practiced their profession throughout their life. This is the case of Luis Alberto Percáres, an artist with over 46 years of experience who is presenting his most recent works at the Viva Library at the Plaza Oeste Mall.
The exhibition includes original works on the techniques of watercolour, Indian ink and pencil. The attendees can watch and understand more about the genres of drawing, as cartoons, illustrations and comics. That's why the artist explained the concepts and their differences.
No doubt he has "46 Years of Dreams ... A trajectory," because the cartoonist demonstrates that he knows how to handle the brush as one pleases and with the utmost perfection. This means that we are facing a show with a level of quality that is not always possible to visualize in Chile.
Luis Alberto Percáres is a cartoonist, publicist, poet and visual artist. His works have toured Chile and abroad, through social media, advertising and exhibitions. He has also been recognized and honoured for the new generations of artists, as well as for different government and private institutions.
If we go through the walls of the gallery slowly, we can find illustrations for children where the innocence of the tale characters excites, both adults and children. Also humoristic drawing is present with Tommy, one of the comic characters of the artist and who makes you smile with his white jokes.
In addition, Luis Alberto Percáres is one of the few cartoonists who manages the love comics. That is why he is exhibiting some pages of his latest creations, in order to teach more about this genre.
And for those who follow daily news contingency will enjoy the caricatures and portraits of famous people. So we are surprised with movie stars, presidents of different countries, outstanding athletes, singers and TV people.
The exhibition "46 Years of Dreams ... A trajectory," is open until 31st August at the Viva Oeste Library, Las Terrazas sector, 110 local. And most important is that the admissions are free, therefore there is no excuses for not attending.

La exhibición fue inaugurada ante la presencia de invitados tales como los socios de la dependencia, periodistas y algunos amigos del artista. La directora de la biblioteca, Gema Contreras, destacó la importancia del evento y agradeció la asistencia del público.

El dibujante expuso parte de sus trabajos más recientes: caricaturas, retratos, ilustraciones y cómics. Además explicó las diferencias y los conceptos de los géneros del dibujo artístico, para que el público pudiera comprender con más facilidad este arte.

Así "46 Años de Sueños... Una Trayectoria" estuvo disponible durante todo el mes de agosto del 2009 y fue un éxito en el Mall Plaza Oeste.

46 Years of Dreams ... A trajectory

The Viva Library of the Plaza Oeste Mall, located in Santiago, Chile, invited Luis Percáres to celebrate his 46 years of career with an individual exhibition. The purpose was to learn more about his art, because they had not received a show like that.
The exhibition was opened in the presence of guests such as library members, journalists and artist’s friends. The library’s manager, Gema Contreras, pointed out the importance of the event and thanked the attendance of public.
The cartoonist exhibited some of his more recent works: cartoons, portraits, illustrations and comics. He also explained the differences and the concepts of the genders of artistic drawing, so the public could more easily understand this art.
So "46 Years of Dreams ... A trajectory" was held during the month of August 2009 and was successfully shown at the Plaza Oeste Mall.

El artista ha explicado que una ilustración es el puente entre el escritor y el lector. Por esta razón, es importante la interpretación que hace el dibujante para graficar lo que se escribió y así hacer de ese texto más comprensible para el lector. Un ejemplo es esta ilustración que retrata a una novia en el día de su matrimonio, sin duda una obra de arte que refleja el hiperrealismo de Luis Percáres.

The artist explained that an illustration is the bridge between writer and reader. For this reason, it is important the interpretation by the artist to graph what was written and thus make the text more understandable to the reader. An example is this illustration that portraits a bride in her wedding day, no doubt an artwork that reflects the hyper-realism of Luis Percáres.

Ya está disponible en las librerías “Tauca, la era de Hay'n”, una narración gráfica que relata la historia épica de un joven indígena de un grupo étnico del extremo austral de Chile, más conocido como los “Selkmanu Onas”.

El libro fue ilustrado por Rafael Nangarí Bade, un joven dibujante chileno que ha destacado por sus ilustraciones de leyendas y mitos de Chile. Mientras que el guión fue creado por Gonzalo López y la editorial Visuales fue la encargada de su publicación.

El lanzamiento del texto fue desarrollado en el Instituto de Providencia, localizado en Santiago. Al evento asistieron diferentes personalidades del mundo de las artes, entre las cuales destacaron Juan Sasturain (periodista y guionista argentino), Jorge Montealegre (investigador del cómic nacional) y los dibujantes Eduardo De la Barra y Luis Alberto Percáres.

It is now available in bookstores "Tauca, era of Hay’n", a graphic narrative that talks about the epic story of a young native of an ethnic group in the Chilean southern extreme, better known as "Selkman or Onas ".
The book was illustrated by Rafael Nangarí Bade, a young Chilean cartoonist who has been known for his illustrations of legends and myths of Chile. While the script was created by Gonzalo López and Visuales editorial was in charge of publishing.
The launch of the text was developed in the Institute of Providencia, located in Santiago. The event was attended by different personalities from the world of the arts, including Juan Sasturain (Argentine writer and journalist), Jorge Montealegre (researcher of national comics) and the cartoonists Eduardo De la Barra and Luis Alberto Percáres.

El dibujante ha ilustrado una diversidad de postales de Chile a lo largo de su carrera, tal como este trabajo que refleja a una madre y a su pequeño hijo montando un caballo. Es una típica escena de la vida de los campesinos del sur del país, los que diseñan su vestimenta para las inclemencias del clima y tienen que lidiar con la contundente vegetación que está a su alrededor. Así Luis Percáres interpreta la cotidianeidad de los másllamativos paisajes, los que sirven para promocionar la cultura y los atractivosde la naturaleza chilena.
The artist has illustrated in abundancy Chilean postcards throughout his career, as this work which shows a mother and her little son riding a horse. It is a typical scene from the life of Southern farmers of this country, who design their outfit for the inclement weather and have to deal with the overwhelming vegetation that surround them. So Luis Percáres interprets the daily life of the most striking landscapes, in order to promote the culture and the natural attractions of Chile.

IV Salón de la Historieta y la Ilustración

Retrato expuesto en el Salón de Grandes Maestros.

Obras como está recorren las paredes del Zócalo de la Biblioteca de Santiago de Chile. Este salón está dedicado a los Grandes Maestros del dibujo chileno y para los artistas invitados que viajaron desde Argentina.
Artistas de la década del 60 tales como Lugoze, Eduardo De la Barra, Luis Alberto Percáres, Lincoln Fuentes y Manuel De la Cruz, entre muchos más, exponen su trayectoria en obras originales para que el público admire en directo cada detalle de la delicadeza de sus lápices y pinceles.
También están disponibles otras secciones para observar la diferencia de las obras que están catalogadas según la edad del público. Por ejemplo, la Sala Infantil alberga ilustraciones de cuentos y personajes animados destinados para los más pequeños. Aquí hay dibujantes de la talla de Themo Lobos, Luis Alberto Percáres y Miguel Ortiz.
Luego en el Salón Juvenil, están las ilustraciones digitalizadas y el estilo manga está fuertemente desarrollado. Artistas como Rafael Nangarí y el grupo Acuarela entregan lo más novedoso de los trabajos emergentes.
Por último, en la Sala +18 están todas las obras de humor picaresco y, tal como su nombre lo dice, pueden ingresar solamente los adultos. Aquí los dibujos tienen una marcada connotación erótica y los chistes están presentes en cada trabajo. Nuevamente Luis Alberto Percáres expone en esta área, así como Judisan y Fred Harrison.
Por cuarto año consecutivo, la Escuela de Diseño Gráfico de la Universidad Los Leones organizó el certamen con el fin de acercar la cultura a todos los chilenos. La muestra tiene entrada liberada y estará disponible hasta el viernes 26 del junio en dicha biblioteca, ubicada en Matucana 151.

Fourth National Salon of Comic and Illustration

Works like this go along the walls of the exhibition hall of the Library of Santiago of Chile. This room is dedicated to the Chilean great masters of drawing and guest artists who traveled from Argentina.

Artists from the 60's such as Lugoze, Eduardo De la Barra, Luis Alberto Percáres, Lincoln Fuentes and Manuel De la Cruz, among many others, expose their trajectory through original works so the public admires in live every detail of the delicacy of their pencils and brushes.

There are also other sections available to observe the difference of the works that are classified by age of the audience. For example, the Children's Room hosts storybook illustrations and animated characters designed for little kids. Here there are artists of the stature of Themo Lobos, Luis Alberto Percáres and Miguel Ortiz.

In the Juvenile area are the digitized illustrations and the Manga style is strongly developed. Artists like Rafael Nangarí and the Acuarela group exhibit the cutting edge of emerging works.

Finally, in the room +18, there are all works with a picaresque humour and, as its name implies, only adults may enter. Here, the drawings have a strong erotic connotation and jokes are present on every work. Again Luis Alberto Percáres exhibits in this area, as well as Judisan and Fred Harrison.

For the fourth consecutive year, the School of Graphic Design of Los Leones University hosted the event in order to bring culture to all Chileans. The admission is free and the exhibition will be held until June 26th at the Library of Santiago, located in Matucana 151.

Por cuarto año consecutivo el artista fue invitado a participar en el Salón de la Historieta y la Ilustración de Chile, desarrollado en la Biblioteca de Santiago en junio del 2009.

Luis Percáres presentó algunas de sus obras en el hall de los grandes maestros, un área creada para homenajear a los dibujantes que tienen una trayectoria de más 30 años en el mundo de la tinta china.

El dibujante también expuso en la sección infantil, un lugar diseñado para que las ilustraciones de cuentos y los personajes animados diviertan a los niños. Así las diferentes obras crearon un ambiente mágico que iluminaron los ojos de los más pequeños.

Por último, en la sala +18 el artista exhibió dos ilustraciones dedicadas a la mujer. Este segmento fue ideado para las personas mayores de 18 años, porque las obras pueden hablar de temas tales como el erotismo y la sensualidad.

Percáres and the Fourth National Salon of Comic and Illustration

For the fourth consecutive year the artist was invited to participate in the National Salon of Comic and Illustration of Chile, developed at the Library of Santiago in June, 2009.

Luis Percáres exposed some of his works at the hall of the great masters, an area created to honour the artists who have a career of more than 30 years in the world of Indian ink.

The artist also exhibited at the children's section, an environment designed for the illustrations of tales and animated characters to kids have fun. Thus the different works did a magical atmosphere that brightened the eyes of littlest children.

Finally, in the room +18 the artist exhibited two illustrations dedicated to women. This segment was designed for people over 18 years, because the work can talk about subjects such as eroticism and sensuality.

El dibujo artístico no necesita de instrumentos de precisión para su elaboración, porque puede ser trazado a mano alzada. Su propósito es transmitir una idea o sentimiento surgida del mundo subjetivo del autor al observador.

Artistic drawing does not require precision instruments for processing, it can be drawn freehand. Its purpose is to convey an idea or feeling which arises from the author's subjective world to the observer.

El lápiz pasta, pluma o bolígrafo es de difícil manejo, porque no admite correcciones como en otros procedimientos, por esta razón son escasos los dibujantes que utilizan esta técnica.

The pen is difficult to manage, because does not admit corrections as in other procedures, for this reason there are few artists who use this technique.

El bolígrafo posee una punta aguda y punzante, por eso mismo, el artista debe saber dominar las líneas de contorno del dibujo, como la elaboración de las tramas para cubrir sus superficies.

The pen has a sharp point, for that matter, the artist must know how to manage the drawing boundary lines, including the development of frames to cover their surfaces.

En más de alguna ocasión, los dibujos a lápiz pasta de Luis Percáres han dejado atónitos al público presente, no sólo por la delicadeza de su realización, sino porque son verdaderas obras de arte.

On more than one opportunities, the Luis Percáres’ pen drawings have left the audience stunned, not only because the fineness of his realization, but because they are true pieces of art.

La Corporación Privada de Desarrollo Social de la Provincia Cordillera de Chile y la Fundación Santa Ana, organizaron un concurso estudiantil de dibujo para todos los colegios municipales de las ciudades de Puente Alto, Pirque y San José de Maipo, en noviembre del 2008.
En dicha ocasión, Luis Alberto Percáres fue parte del jurado y compartió con los jóvenes en dicho evento. Por esa razón, uno de los diputados del área, Maximiano Errázuriz, le otorgó un reconocimiento por su participación.

The Private Social Development Corporation of the Cordillera Province of Chile and The Santa Ana Foundation organized a drawing competition for all students of municipal schools of the cities of Puente Alto, Pirque and San José de Maipo, in November of 2008.
On that occasion, Luis Alberto Percáres was part of the jury and shared time with young people at the event. For this reason, one of the deputies in the area, Maximiano Errázuriz, was awarded him with gratitude for his participation, as well as the leading competitors.

El Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de Chile logró reunir 200 años de historia de las creaciones gráficas de los dibujantes chilenos y las expuso para celebrar su centenario. Bajo el título "Exíjo una explicación", dio inicio a la muestra frente a los máximos creadores nacionales, tales como Luis Percáres, Manuel De la Cruz, Miguel Ortíz, y Percy.

The National Museum of Fine Arts of Chile brought together 200 years of history of graphic creations of the Chilean artists and exposed them to celebrate its centennial. Under the title "I demand an explanation," opened the show in front of the top national cartoonists, such as Luis Percáres, Manuel De la Cruz, Miguel Ortiz and Percy.

Las primeras caricaturas políticas fueron publicadas en Francia, con la finalidad de enjuiciar la credibilidad de los gobernantes, tales como Napoleón III y Luis Felipe. Así la opinión pública podía emitir juicios de valor con respecto a los temas controvertidos de la época o, reafirmar o cambiar sus ideales y tendencias.

The first political cartoons were published in France, in order to judge the credibility of the governors, such as Napoleon III and Louis Philippe. So the public opinion could make value judgments regarding to the controversial issues of that period, or to reaffirm or change their ideals and trends.

La palabracaricatura tiene su raíz del italiano "caricare", que significa cargar. Según los investigadores del tema, este término fue inventado por el artista Leonardo da Vinci, quien buscó personas con deformidades para usarlas como modelos.

Dibujantes chilenos y cubanos

Obra expuesta en el Salón de Grandes Maestros.

El Tercer Salón de la historieta, la ilustración y la caricatura fue inaugurado en la Biblioteca de Santiago, gracias a la coordinación de la Escuela de Diseño Gráfico de la Universidad de Los Leones. Este año participaron artistas chilenos, como también los grandes exponentes de Cuba.

En la muestra podemos encontrar caricaturas de políticos y famosas personalidades, algunas portadas de revistas de la década de oro de la historieta chilena, chistes, dibujos eróticos, el género del animé e ilustraciones infantiles.

Los artistas cubanos Joseph Rosado, Augusto González, Reinerio Tamayo, Tomás Rodríguez, Ramiro Zardoya y Arístides Hernández enviaron sus trabajos para exponerlos al público chileno. Sus obras estuvieron marcadas por la crítica social y el relato de su historia política.

Entre los grandes maestros del dibujo profesional chileno, estuvieron presentes Themo Lobos, Luis Alberto Percáres, Lincoln Fuentes, Jorge Carvallo, Luis Goyenechea Zegarra, Santiago Peñailillo, Manuel de La Cruz, Hernán Vidal, Eduardo De la Barra, Nelson Soto y Miguel Ortiz.

También algunos jóvenes dibujantes chilenos expusieron sus trabajos, tales como Rafael Nangarí, Juan Vásquez, Cristián Díaz y Daniela Gallardo. Ellos contribuyeron a dar un espíritu renovado gracias a la práctica del arte digital.

Además hubo algunos lanzamientos de libros relacionados con el tema, talleres y mesas redondas. Con esto, el público pudo aprender sobre los objetivos del humor gráfico y su importancia en el desarrollo de nuestro país, como también tener más participación en las actividades.

Así la tinta china de ambos países estuvo presente con la finalidad de enseñar, impresionar, cautivar y transportar al mundo de las caricaturas, de las historietas y de los deseos más recónditos del ser humano. Una experiencia que todos debimos disfrutar, porque sólo una vez al año es visible en Chile.

Chilean and Cuban cartoonists

A Tommy's joke.

The Third Salon of Comic, Illustration and Caricature was opened in the Library of Santiago, Chile, through the coordination of the School of Graphic Design from Los Leones University. This year Chilean artists participated, as well great exponents of Cuba.

In the show we find caricatures of politicians and famous personalities, some magazine covers from the golden decade of the Chilean comic, jokes, erotic drawings, the gender of children’s illustrations and animee.

Cuban artists as Joseph Rosado, Augusto González, Reinerio Tamayo, Tomás Rodríguez, Ramiro Zardoya and Arístides Hernández, sent their works to bring them to the Chilean public. His works were marked by social criticism and the account of his political history.

Among the great masters of drawing Chileans professional, were present Themo Lobos, Luis Alberto Percáres, Lincoln Fuentes, Jorge Carvallo, Luis Goyenechea Zegerra, Santiago Peñailillo, Manuel De la Cruz, Hernán Vidal, Eduardo De la Barra, Nelson Soto and Miguel Ortiz.

Also some young Chilean artists exhibited their works, such as Rafael Nangarí, Juan Vásquez, Cristián Díaz and Daniela Gallardo. They contributed to the renewed spirit through the practice of digital art.

There were presentations of books related to the topic, workshops and round tables. With this, the public could learn about the objectives of graphic humour and its importance in the development of our country, as well as have more participation in the activities.

So Indian ink was present in both countries in order to teach, impress, captivate, and transport the cartoon and comics world to the innermost desires of human beings. An experience that we should all enjoy, because only once a year is shown in Chile.

Percáres y el III Salón del Cómic

El artista en el área +18 .

En el Tercer Salón del Cómic y la Ilustración de Chile, el artista expuso en el hall de Grandes Maestros del dibujo profesional, en la sección Infantil y en el área +18, en la Biblioteca de Santiago.

Para la Sala de Grandes Maestros, Luis Percáres presentó dos de sus obras. La primera correspondió a una escena de las películas de James Bond 007, la que mostró a un protagonista en medio de una explosión. Y la segunda, fue una ilustración infantil que mezcló la fantasía con la realidad, así logró reflejar a una pareja de niños junto a uno de esos gigante de los cuentos infantiles.

El dibujante también exhibió en el área Infantil. Allí los más pequeños que no conocían a su personaje Tommy, pudieron reír con sus chistes cándidos y ensimismarse con una de las portada de la historieta.

Además Percáres participó en la sección +18, un lugar desarrollado sólo para los adultos. Por esa razón, el artista presentó dos ilustraciones que destacaron por la sensualidad femenina, además del realismo de sus rostros.

In the Third Comic and Illustration of Chile, the artist exhibited in the hall of Great Masters, in the children's section and in the area for adults called +18, in the Library of Santiago.

For the Hall of Great Masters, Luis Percáres presented two of his works. The first corresponded to a scene from the James Bond 007 film, which showed a protagonist in the middle of an explosion. And the second was an illustration that mixed fantasy with reality, and reflected a couple of children with one of those giant of fairy tales.

The artist also exhibited in the children’s section. There the younger children who did not know his character Tommy, could laugh with his candid jokes and self-absorbed with one of the covers of the comic magazine.

In addition, Percáres participated in the +18 area, a developed area just for adults. For this reason, the artist presented two illustrations that highlighted by female sensuality, as well as the realism of their faces.

Luis Percáres realizó está ilustración para apoyar a "Huemulín", un simpático personaje creado por el periodista y dibujante chileno Jaime Huerta, más conocido como Galo.

"Huemulín"simboliza al "huemul", un ciervo que habita en el sur de Chile y que está en peligro de extinción. También es uno de los símbolos del escudo nacional de Chile, es por eso que el personaje siempre luce un suéter con los tres colores patrios, una estrella en su pecho y una corona.

Luis Percáres made this illustration to support "Huemulín", a funny comic character created by the Chilean journalist and cartoonist Jaime Huerta, better known as Galo.

"Huemulín" symbolizes the "huemul", a deer that lives in southern Chile and currently is in danger of extinction. It is also a symbol of the national Chilean's coat of arms, and that is the reason because the character always wears a sweater with the three national colors, a star on his chest and a crown.

La Librería Nacional, localizada en Santiago de Chile, presentó la exposición "Mujeres en el Cómic y la Ilustración" en su salón de arte. Las artistas chilenas emergentes, tales como Daniela Gallardo, Natalia Izquierdo y Keitty Álvarez, expusieron sus obras durante un mes.

Para la inauguración de la muestra, algunos de los grandes maestros del dibujo profesional chileno estuvieron presente, como por ejemplo: Luis Alberto Percáres, Manuel De la Cruz, Santiago Peñailillo,Hernán Figueroa y Hut, quienes aparecen en la fotografìa.

The “National” Shop book, located in Santiago of Chile, presented the exhibition "Women in comics and illustration" in its art room. The Chilean emerging artists, such as Daniela Gallardo, Natalia Izquierdo and Keitty Álvarez, exhibited his works for a month.

Also some of great masters of Chilean professional drawing attended the opening, for example: Manuel De la Cruz, Santiago Peñailillo, Hernán Figueroa, Luis Hut, and Luis Alberto Percáres, who appear on the photograph.

This is Tommy, a fictional childlike character created by Luis Alberto Percáres. Tommy was born in the early 80's, with the purpose to interpret the curiosities that every child wonders about life.

Tommy es un ejemplo de los personajes infantiles que ayudan a construir y fortalecer la personalidad de los niños, porque ellos se identifican con el héroe o protagonista, él que usualmente pasa por una serie de pruebas pero que finalmente logra su meta.
Tommy is an example of fictional characters for kids who helps to build and strengthen the personality of children, because they identify with the hero or protagonist, who usually goes through a series of trials but ultimately achieves its goal.

El dibujante siempre procura entregar mensajes positivos y valores morales, con el propósito de facilitar la compresión de la realidad. Así, Tommy trata temas relacionados con la cultura, la historia, el medio ambiente o simples aventuras infantiles, sin dejar de lado a la fantasía.

Los estudiantes de la Escuela de Diseño Gráfico de la Universidad Los Leones, pintaron un mural para homenajear a los personajes de la historieta chilena. Los muros de la Biblioteca de Santiago lucieron los rostros de memorables personajes, tales como "Federico Von Pilsener" y "Mampato".

The students of graphic design of the Los Leones University painted a mural in tribute to the Chilean comic characters. The walls of the Library of Santiago show the faces of memorable fictional characters, such as “Federico Von Pilsener” and “Mampato”.

Varios periodistas, artistas y estudiantes asistieron a la inauguración del mural, como también personeros de la Universidad Los Leones y de la Biblioteca de Santiago. Por ejemplo, los dibujantes Judisan, Luis Percáres, Manuel De la Cruz y Loren, quienes aparecen en la fotografía.

El periodista José Blanco escribió un libro reportaje sobre "Cachupín", un personaje de historietas creado por el dibujante chileno Renato Andrade, más conocido como "Nato", en 1941. "Cachupín" tenía una personalidad pícara, era un aficionado a los deportes y fue publicado en la revista "Estadio".

El lanzamiento del libro fue organizado por la Escuela de Diseño Gráfico de la Universidad Los Leones y fue desarrollado en el Auditorio de la Biblioteca de Santiago. Al evento asistieron diferentes personalidades de las artes y la prensa, como por ejemplo, los artistas Manuel De la Cruz y Luis Alberto Percáres.

The journalist José Blanco wrote a non-fiction book about “Cachupin”, a cartoon character created by the Chilean cartoonist Renato Andrade, better known as “Nato”, in 1941. “Cachupin” was a rogue character, sporty, and was published on the “Stadio” magazine.

The book launch party was organized by the School of Graphic Design of Los Leones University and was held in the Auditorium of the Santiago Library. At the event, various personalities of the arts and press attended, including to the artists Manuel De la Cruz and Luis Alberto Percáres.
